Made possible by NENY at Binghamton University in collaboration with New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology Consortium (NY-BEST), the Technical Assistance Program uses grants to catalyze technology development and scale-up and support the utilization of qualified prototyping, testing, shared-use development, and/or certification services and facilities in New York state. IncubatorWorks

Thanks to NENY funding, IncubatorWorks’ Co.Starters program has grown to accommodate five cohorts a year, previously administering two annually. More than 20 cohorts have graduated from Co.Starters now, with access to in-house cash flow models, dedicated training and pitching practice, as well as fully fledged business model canvases. In 2025 alone, after graduating five more cohorts, Co.Starters has served 54 entrepreneurs and 29 new businesses, with 19 more ideas currently in development. Read the story.

Empire State Development Announces CMP Expansion in Southern Tier

CMP'sfacility will be expanding its operations in manufacturing battery storage components, and is committing to creating up to 62 new jobs in the region. Empire State Development is providing a $850,000 capital grant to support the project. Total project cost has been placed at a little more than $8.8 million. Read the story.

Erie County Deploys Viridi Fail-Safe Battery Backup System to Modernize Wastewater Pumping Stations and Reduce Diesel Reliance

Viridi, the industry leader in fail-safe battery energy storage systems (BESS), announced the successful deployment of its fail-safe BESS at a wastewater pumping station in Erie County Sewer District No. 2, in the Town of Hamburg. Product Certification Acceleration Program

In this competitive program, eligible manufacturers and startups based in New York state may receive reimbursement grants of up to $20,000 per application (and up to $40,000 total per company) to offset the costs of obtaining certifications, meeting industry standards necessary for commercialization, and exploring new market entry opportunities. The program is run by NENY and NY-BEST alongside support from the U.S. Economic Development Administration and Empire State Development. Learn more and apply here.
